The Way it Began….

In the year 1977, amidst the disco-fueled fervor, I found myself immersed in the lively cityscape of Kansas City. As a very young cocktail waitress, my nights were filled with serving libations and indulging in the rhythm of the most beloved era.

As I navigated my way through the bustling streets, I longed for a muse, a force to ignite the dormant flames of creativity within me. Little did I know that fate had a remarkable encounter in store for me, one that would forever change the course of my life.

One fateful evening, amidst the pulsating beats and shimmering disco lights, I stumbled upon a man who commanded the stage with his musical prowess. Clad in a sea of instruments, it was the Fender bass hanging from his shoulder and the lone drumstick in his hand that caught my eye.

In that mesmerizing instant, his ingenuity and immense talent reverberated deep within my soul, leaving me utterly captivated and spellbound. The profound connection we shared transcended the boundaries of our respective roles - he, the masterful musician, and I, the humble cocktail waitress.

Three months later, our lives intertwined in matrimony, united by love, music, and the very instrument that had brought us together - the Fender bass.

For a blissful yet painfully brief period, we reveled in the symphony of our harmonious union. However, fate had other plans in store. Just eleven months after our joyous union, my dear bassist, my beloved husband, departed from this mortal plane, leaving me in the wake of his untimely demise.

Yet, even in the face of such heart-wrenching loss, I persevered. My grief transformed into fuel for the fire within me, guiding my hand to the pen and the paper. I poured my soul into the creation of a poignant memoir, a best-selling book that immortalized our love, our music, and the indomitable spirit that carried me through the darkest of days.

Now, as the curtains rise on a new chapter of my life, I stand at the precipice of bringing our story to life on the stage. "Newlywed Widow," a theatrical production that bears witness to the profound impact my late husband had on my life, is set to grace the prestigious Whitefire Theatre and the largest US Solofest on the West Coast.
